With thanks to the national work undertaken at the level of the Head Librarians of all Institutes of Technology, WIT has been granted access to two exciting new research resources for our research community.
Academic Search Premier
From EBSCO, the providers of Business Source Premier, comes Academic Search Premier; a comprehensive, multi-subject research database, which provides access to indexing and abstracts of over 8300 journal titles. Of these, over 4500 are full text, and over 3700 of those are scholarly, peer-reviewed titles.
Academic Search Premier covers a wide range of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, and more. So why not try searching for quality research for your assignments and research through Academic Search Premier.
UK/Éire Reference Centre
Also provided by EBSCO, the Reference Centre combines British and Irish and International magazines, newspapers and reference works; as well as photos, maps and flags, in one search-able interface.
The Economist, National Geographic, The Times (London) and Irish Times are all included in full text in the UK/Éire Reference Centre.
Accessing ASP or UK/Éire Reference Centre
As with most of our databases, if you are working on campus, you won’t need a username and password to start searching Academic Search Premier or the Reference Centre – you’ll be granted immediate access through the Library’s Database web page: http://library.wit.ie/GoingOnline/Databases/
If you’re researching from a computer off-campus, like your home PC for example, you’ll need to use your ATHENS account and choose EBSCOHost from the range of resources. If you still don’t have your ATHENS account for this academic year, you can register for one at the following webpage: http://library.wit.ie/GoingOnline/Databases/RegisterwithATHENS/
Let us know in the comments below how you’re finding Academic Search Premier and the UK/Éire Reference Centre. We’d be delighted to hear your feedback.
